Installation
On any version of Windows, just run the downloaded .exe file (by double clicking on it). The automated installer will start and guide you through the installation process. If you happen to see a Windows SmartScreen warning, just click More Info, and allow the installation to proceed. All software by Hyams Development is code signed by Starfield Technologies and safe to install on your device.
Note that CurveExpert/GraphExpert Professional will install for all users (if you are admin), or for you only (if you are not). This allows you to try CurveExpert/GraphExpert Pro without having any admin privileges.
Uninstallation
The easiest way to uninstall CurveExpert/GraphExpert Professional is to go to the Start button, go to All Programs, click the CurveExpert (or GraphExpert) Professional folder group, and then click the uninstaller in that folder group.
Alternatively, one can click the Start button, go to Control Panel, select Programs and Features, select CurveExpert/GraphExpert Professional, and click the Uninstall button at the top of the window.
Installation
On a Mac, download the .dmg file, and double click on it after it is downloaded. This displays a simple Finder window where you can install the software by dragging the CurveExpert/GraphExpert Professional icon to the Applications folder.
CurveExpert/GraphExpert Professional is not an Apple signed app; it is code signed by Starfield Technologies and safe to install on your device. Therefore, at installation, Apple will complain that they cannot verify that this software is not malware. You can allow the application to be installed by visiting the Security and Privacy section of your System Preferences, where you should see a message similar to "CurveExpert Pro was blocked from use"; just click the button next to this that says "Open Anyway".
Uninstallation
To uninstall the software on a Mac, go to the Finder sidebar, and click Applications. Drag the app from the Applications folder to the Trash (located at the end of the Dock), or right-click on the application and select "Move to Trash". Optionally, command-click on the trash can, and select Empty Trash.
Installation
Under Linux, download the .run file from the web site. Usually, this file will not download with the correct permissions to be run. To give the file executable permissions, do one of the following:
- on the command line, switch to the directory in which CurveExpertPro-x.x.x-Linux-x86_64.run was downloaded, and type "chmod +x CurveExpertPro-x.x.x-Linux-x86_64.run", where x.x.x is the version number that you downloaded.
- from the file manager, right click on the file CurveExpertPro-x.x.x-Linux-x86_64.run, select "Permissions", and check the box "Give file executable permissions".
Then, run the file either by double-clicking it in the file manager, or by running "./CurveExpertPro-x.x.x-Linux-x86_64.run" at the command line. This will start the automated installer. Note that the installer commonly suffers from "pop-under", meaning that the installer window could appear underneath other windows. So, if nothing appears to happen when you run the installer, try looking underneath other windows. Work is progressing to locate and use a different installer to try to alleviate this problem.
Note for CurveExpert Pro 2.4.0 and earlier and for GraphExpert Pro 1.4.0 and earlier: these applications are 32-bit, and as such, require 32-bit libraries to be installed. If you are running a pure 64-bit Linux installation and trying to install the 32-bit application, you will likely have to install your distribution's 32-bit compatibility libraries. Usually, you can install the 32-bit version of zlib, gtk libraries, and standard c++ library, and that will be enough (on Linux Mint Debian, this was ia32-libs-gtk, lib32z1, and lib32stdc++6).
It is recommended to install the 64-bit application (2.5.0 and later for CurveExpert Pro, and 1.5.0 and later for GraphExpert Pro) on a 64-bit platform.
CurveExpert/GraphExpert Professional has been tested on the following distributions. A green color coding indicates a successful test, and red indicates that CurveExpert/GraphExpert Pro will not run on that distribution. If a distribution is not listed, that does not necessarily mean that CurveExpert Pro will not run properly; as long as the distribution is reasonably recent, the software should work with no problems.

In the Linux arena, there are two primary desktop systems: GNOME and KDE. CurveExpert/GraphExpert Professional integrates well with GNOME, offering a desktop icon, appropriate menu entries and icons, file association between .cxp/.gxp files and CurveExpert/GraphExpert Pro, and icons for .cxp/.gxp files.
Under KDE, desktop integration is not fully developed. Desktop icons and menu entries are created, but the icons for these do not yet work. File association also works, but the icons for .cxp/.gxp files are not yet functional.
Uninstallation
To uninstall CurveExpert/GraphExpert Pro under Linux, run the "uninstall" program that was shipped with the software, which resides in the CurveExpert/GraphExpert Professional install directory (which was selected at install time). There are two simple ways to run this; the first is to use your file browser to navigate to this directory, and double-click the "uninstall" executable inside. The second way to use the command line:
